Abstract:

Whether working with pre-school children, elderly clients, or anyone in between, Behavior Analysts are very frequently presented with difficult client situations. These include instances in which our clients are endangering themselves or others, receiving help with dressing or toileting or other private self-care tasks, and sensitive interactions in the community. Balancing effective intervention with the preservation of our clients’ privacy and dignity is a critical mandate, but how to do this is not always clear.

In this two-hour webinar, Dr. Tucker and Ms. Player will present viewers with concrete, actionable recommendations for navigating these types of scenarios with clients. Topics will include supportive and age-/developmentally-appropriate communication with clients, respectful communication with team members and stakeholders, privacy and personal boundaries, thoughtfully implementing physical management in emergency situations, and more.
