Connections Behavior Planning and Intervention is excited to announce a free, three-hour webinar with Kelly Kuehl, to discuss the uses, pros and cons associated with a variety of AAC devices and programs.
Abstract
Supported, informed, and collaborative teams are critically important for student/client success. Kelly will present a detailed definition of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and provide examples of communication supports that you may use with your student/client. We will discuss challenges with implementing AAC and introduce evidence-based practices that you can use to combat those challenges. Hands-on practice will be a crucial component of the training.
About Kelly Kuehl MA, CCC-SLP
Kelly is a Speech Language Pathologist with over 14 years of experience in the field working with individuals with complex communication needs across the lifespan and in a variety of settings. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington and works as an Augmentative and Alternative Communication Specialist at PROVAIL, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support people with disabilities fulfill their life choices. Her approach to each individual is one that emphasizes support between home, school, vocational, and community involvement while recognizing the unique message and motivations of each communicator. Kelly continues to build a strong understanding of communicators who use AAC through dedicated continuing education and clinical experience. She has presented on AAC and other communication topics at professional agencies, school districts, regional conferences, and has integrated coaching and collaboration with related professionals throughout her career.
