- Connections Behavior Planning and Intervention welcomes Kate Grandbois, BCBA, and Abby Cummings, SLP, for an online webinar on intervention strategies for AAC users.
Abstract:
Interdisciplinary collaboration is essential to effective, ethical care for individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). This presentation will explore strategies for meaningful collaboration between Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to support complex communicators. Attendees will review the role of developmental and communicative norms in clinical decision-making, how those norms are framed through a behavioral lens, and how to align intervention plans with a client’s language profile. Evidence-based strategies for supporting AAC users will be reviewed, with an emphasis on coordinating care to improve outcomes across settings.
