- Connections Behavior Planning and Intervention welcomes Dr. Lisa Britton, BCBA-D, for an online webinar on using behavior skills training in remote supervision.
Abstract:
Behavior analysts who practice in school settings often participate in FBAs (Functional Behavior Assessments). While knowledge about best practices varies widely with FBAs, most school staff do not know what FAs (Functional Analyses) are, how they differ from FBAs, why we might use them and how to conduct them. While FBAs remain the most common tool in our arsenal, there are times when an FA is ethically necessary and appropriate. BCBAs may wonder how they can do this safely and ethically in a school setting.
FAs in school settings can be done, and school staff can learn to conduct them with your oversight and collaboration. In this training, we will explore the differences between FBAs and FAs, how FBAs are used and/or misused in the school setting, when an FA should be done, and how to do one safely in the school setting.
