Connections Behavior Planning and Intervention is excited to welcome Dr. Khashayar Farhadi Langroudi for a ninety-minute webinar for Behavior Analysts! This event will focus on the topic of multiculturalism from a contextual-behavior analytic perspective.
Abstract
Participants will learn how the functional behavioral model can be applied to working with diverse populations. A case example of Muslim cultural considerations, and intersectionality with Gender and Sexual Minority status, will be discussed in more detail. The focus of the webinar is on understanding multiculturism in a behavior-analytic framework. Participants will also learn about how to utilize applied behaviorism working with Muslim families.
About the Presenter
Dr. Farhadi received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Tehran before moving to the U.S. to continue his education, and received a second bachelor’s degree in biology pre-med from New York Institute of Technology. He received a graduate degree and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University – San Francisco. He completed his internship at IMCES in Los Angeles, CA, and a post-doctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente – South San Francisco, focusing on general adult population and eating disorders. He was the primary clinical supervisor for the postdoctoral training program at Kaiser Permanente – San Francisco. His clinical orientation and training are focused on contextual behavioral sciences (ACT, RFT, DBT, and CFT), and his most recent publications and training are focused on the intersectionality of gender, sexual minorities, Muslim mental health, and immigration. He is a Core Faculty and Director of Clinical Training at University of San Francisco, and a member of APA’s Continuing Education Committee and Past President of San Francisco Psychological Association.
